The Communication for Behavior Change: Expanding Access to Private Sector Health Products and Services in Afghanistan (COMPRI-A) Project will focus on improving the capacity of the private sector to provide health products and services in Afghanistan. Specifically this project will promote healthy behaviors of individuals, families and communities through mass media campaigns on television and radio; increase access to reproductive health and child survival products and services and develop policies and partnerships between the public and private sectors to create an environment for the delivery of quality health services and products in the private sector. The project will revitalize the participation of the private sector in supplying health products, such as safe water systems, contraceptives and insecticide treated bed nets with distribution expanded to retail outlets in rural areas. Through these measures, USAID is not only supporting the delivery of these products but is also training the people who will work to ensure that the quality of the products and services are consistent with the guidelines established by the Ministry of Public Health.
