This is a 30 month program to support the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’s National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) in implementing its environmental policies and laws relating to renewable natural resources.  The Biodiversity Support Program (BSP) focuses on strengthening NEPA’s “green environment” technical oversight office for managing the renewable natural resources of Afghanistan. This will provide the NEPA/IRoA with a qualified technical support arm and would utilize available skills that will be developed during the implementation of the program.  In addition, the program will assist NEPA in developing appropriate administrative systems and funding mechanisms to allow receipt of donor funding.
