In September 2009, the previous grant to the World Health Organization to support the delivery of Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and the Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS) will convert to a host country contract with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). The MoPH is the first government agency within Afghanistan to be certified to receive direct funding from the USG. The BPHS and EPHS programs are the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan's (GIRoA’s) national strategies to deliver and expand health services to address the most common health problems throughout Afghanistan.
