The Higher Education Project (HEP) assists the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA) to improve the quality of higher education, particularly through teacher training.  HEP focuses on improving the teaching skills of professors through training in pedagogy, subject knowledge, and professional attitudes.  A key aspect of the project is to institutionalize structures and develop an academic culture that supports high-quality teaching and professional activities.  The project covers 16 Faculties of Education in provincial universities.
