The Service Support Project provides technical assistance and implementation support to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that implement services in over 360 clinics and hospitals in 13 USAID-funded provinces to improve the planning, management, implementation, and monitoring of the delivery of quality Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and the Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS) in thirteen provinces in Afghanistan. Service Support Project (SSP) works in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) to support NGOs, both indigenous Afghan and international, who provides BPHS and EPHS services. The SSP project will work to contribute to improve the quality of services provided to women of reproductive age and children under the age of five.

To accomplish that achievement the project will cover four results:

• Intermediate Result 1: Strengthened and developed systems that support service delivery quality.
• Intermediate Result 2: Increased number and performance of BPHS and EPHS service providers, especially women in rural and underserved areas.
• Intermediate Result 3: Improved capacity and willingness of communities, families and individuals to make informed decisions about their health and support and sustain health seeking behavior.
• Intermediate Result 4: Integrated gender awareness and practices into BPHS and EPHS service delivery.
