Kabul

Capital Kabul
Population 3,450,000
Area 4,462  km²

Situated in east-central Afghanistan, Kabul sits in an arid valley and receives sunshine most days of the year. Established 5,000 years ago and invaded by numerous civilizations, today the city is being reconstructed after decades of war. As the capital city, Kabul is the center of government and commerce for the nation, and its Tajik, Pashtun, and Hazara residents have access to an increasing variety of public services and institutions. In recent years, the city has seen a significant increase in population and the government continues to struggle in providing services such as electricity and clean water.
