From the American People
USAID’s Commercialization of Afghanistan Water and Sanitation Activity (CAWSA) aims to improve the water supply systems of Kabul, Mazar-i Sharif, Jalalabad, Ghazni, and Gardez. This project is conducted in coordination with Afghanistan’s Central Authority for Water Supply and Sewage, provincial water departments, and other donors. The objective of the three-year CAWSA project is to establish a viable business model for water service delivery in Afghanistan. CAWSA supports the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’s water and sanitation sector reforms, which seek to commercialize the urban water sector, increase cost recovery, and improve management.
