The overall objective of TB CARE I is to improve the management and technical capacity of the National Tuberculosis (TB) Control Program (NTP) and to strengthen the management and technical systems for the delivery of quality TB directly-observed therapy, short-course (DOTS) in Afghanistan.  TBCARE I supports the comprehensive implementation of TB activities in all BPHS/EPHS and MoPH health facilities in 13 USAID funded provinces.

TB CARE I assists the NTP to improve TB prevention, diagnosis and treatment, which improved TB treatment success rates.  TB CARE I focuses on strategic areas and challenges to assist the NTP in improving the management and technical capacities of the central and provincial TB teams as well as in expanding quality DOTS at the community-level and urban settings.
