Through the Afghan Observation and Electoral Reform project, USAID is developing capacity and facilitating an Afghan-led electoral reform dialogue in order to strengthen Afghan democracy and foster innovations in governance. This comprehensive electoral reform initiative is engaging Afghan civil-society and academic stakeholders through an Electoral Reform Network. The project is supporting these groups to develop capacity to engage with government and other political stakeholders to promote informed reform of the Afghan electoral system. USAID enhances public confidence and transparency in the electoral process by supporting multi-stakeholder dialogue on Afghanistan’s election events, the electoral process, and performance of election institutions.
