From the American People
A strong, vibrant civil-society is an essential component of a flourishing democracy. USAID’s Initiative to Promote Afghan Civil Society (I-PACS) project strengthens the role and viability of civil-society in Afghanistan by providing technical assistance, capacity building, and grant support to civil-society organizations nationwide. USAID is working to enable Afghan citizens to effectively participate in the political process, solve community problems, and advocate for good governance from their leaders. I-PACS II project objectives are to improve civil-society accountability and legal and regulatory frameworks; strengthen civil-society capacity and sector infrastructure for democratic processes; and increase citizen mobilization and policy engagement with a crosscutting emphasis on gender mainstreaming.
