This five-year contract's objectives are to assist the government of Afghanistan design and implement sound economic policy that is sustainable, transparent and predictable. The goals are 1) to strengthen economic governance to meet the needs of the public; and 2) to establish an enabling environment for the private sector to expand production, jobs and income. The critical factor for sustainability is the training of Afghans to gradually take over all of the work that is currently performed by foreign advisors.
