The Agro-enterprise Support Program 2 (ASP2) project focuses on high value horticulture crops to increase incomes for targeted men and women in seven districts of Herat province. ASP2 will provide technical assistance in improved farm technology, post-harvest handling, market linkages, business skill development, and facilitating access to credit and capital. It will also provide extension services to producers and processors and on-the-job-training for the Ministry of Agriculture. Expected results are: 1) 30% increase in productivity and farmgate prices for targeted crops and enterprises; 2) 500 people will gain access to credit; 3) two or more local organizations will be trained to provide support services to producers and processors; and 4) a tomato processing plant will be established in Karokh district. ASP2 will improve agricultural sector productivity through the agribusiness and producer organizations.
