The primary goal of The Asia Foundation’s program is to assist Afghanistan with the strengthening of the permanent election institution, known as the Afghan Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), so the Government of Afghanistan (GoA) can implement elections with its own resources and expertise. The Asia Foundation provides technical and material support to the elections process in Afghanistan through civic education, international election monitoring, operations/logistics, and technical support and training to staff members of the IEC.
