To modernize the customs facilities at Kabul International Airport, all goods that had amassed over the last year in the customs area, have been removed by a joint team of representatives from the Afghan Customs Department and the Trade and Accession Facilitation for Afghanistan. The team documented and moved 600 pallets of un-cleared goods from a makeshift 1,000 square feet outdoor storage area in preparation for hard standing concrete to be laid. Work is underway to identify the owners of these abandoned goods so they can be either customs cleared, destroyed, or sold at auction.
