Following the success of the first Afghanistan International Carpet Fair held in 2007, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan, in cooperation with the Afghanistan Carpet Guild and the Kabul Carpet Association, is pleased to present the second Afghanistan International Carpet Fair from 26-28 October at the historic Babur Gardens.

The fair will showcase the best of carpets, rugs, and handicrafts from more than 60 exhibitors representing every area of Afghanistan’s carpet weaving industry. New and antique items will be available for immediate sale, including specialty items from the Afghan Women’s Business Federation.

This event will also feature traditional Afghan music and food, as well as a demonstration on carpet weaving. The show expects to attract premier rug importers, investors, and equipment suppliers worldwide.

The Second Afghanistan International Carpet Fair, which is financially and technically supported by the German Technical Corporation, the United States Agency for International Development, and the Standard Chartered Bank, provides a unique opportunity for Afghanistan to take a leap forward in its efforts to rehabilitate and revive its carpet sector.  The event will help Afghan producers to promote and market their unique and famous carpets to the rest of the world.  It will also provide an opportunity for international rug dealers to network with Afghan rug producers, visit their facilities, and create long-term commercial relationships.
